Gary Sorry about my lack of posting the past week or so.  Life has been busy and as of late I’ve been a bit ill thanks to some Eel sushi.  But all that aside - Adam made reference to Radar O’Reilly today - and you know that I means I have to post about it.  So a quick Google search revealed that Gary Burghoff, who played Radar O’Reilly on M.A.S.H. is quite an amazing artist!

The one thing that I can’t help but laugh about - and this is due to the nerd in me - is that on the ordering page, at the top it says “This online order form requires a JavaScript capable browser such as Navigator 3.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0.”  I don’t even think that I remember Internet Explorer 3.0!

But nerd laughing aside - Gary’s art is very impressive.  You can check out a lot of his work on his website.

Frank Burns

Whenever my friend Adam references M.A.S.H (which sometimes is quite often) I make a related blog post about it.

(9:02:38 AM) “very, verrrry interest-ing” as Maj. Francis Marion Burns, M.D. would describe it.

“That’s not my department, sir - intelligence is something I try to avoid.”

I was in conversation yesterday with “Adam” regarding “Colonel Blake or Potter” and it got me thinking.  I have always preferred Potter personally.  I liked the contrast of stern authority and his apparent love for his wife Mildred.  He was also quite the painter.

However, Blake was hilarious as Colonel - always trying to be a friend before authorative figure (although he could be pushed too far in some situations).  My thought is that in times of war there definitely needs to be someone in control leading the troops, but at the same time, in a M.A.S.H facility, where everything is revolving around life and death, the need for a sense of humor in times of strain was a great human reaction to the situation - and Blake definitely had that.

So I am effectively torn - thanks Adam.

I’m curious to know the thoughts of others.  Are you strictly Blake, Potter or both?  And your reasons?

Enlighten us M.A.S.H fans if you will!
